…I bought a one way ticket into nowhere…
These are the words of a song that went straight to my heart the first time that I heard it. I stumbled out of my bedroom and into the hallway to listen closer. I had the good fortune to be sharing a house in Maui with Stef Mariani who was exercising her vocal muscles. I startled her when I belted out my applause. This song is a jewel and so I dragged her out of her room on my last day in Maui to share the song with you.
Have a listen. I know you will want to listen more than once so the music starts at 0:53.
About the Artist
Stef Mariani is a Hawaii based artist who is a two time Na Hoku Hanohano Award Nominee and Big Island Music Award Winner. Kind of a big deal in my world. I had the amazing luck to meet Steph and to share a house with her for my short visit to Maui at the beginning of the month.
About the song: Colour My Soul
Where did this song come from?
“The title track of the album was written about the moment my heart un-broke. I had been so numb and living my life in black and white for a couple of years at that point. Then one warm breezy Hawaii evening someone picked up a guitar and started to play to me as I was falling asleep. Suddenly I felt the blood start to flow back into my face and through my body. For the first time in a long time I felt a stirring in my heart. I felt hope. I felt alive.”

Thanks for sharing the music Stef. It was lovely to meet a fellow INFP and to be able to jam on the lanai overlooking the water. Aloha.

For those who have read the blog before, starting 2016, I thought that I would switch things up and to focus on other people that I meet in my travels. It’s a pleasure to be able to share them with you.
